What was Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death? The medical experts disclosed the truth

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has disclosed that Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death was attributed to a small bowel obstruction. This obstruction was determined to be a result of scar tissue formation following a bariatric surgery that she underwent several years ago.

Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death in January remained undisclosed until late July. Why? The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has confirmed that the cause of, at the age of 54, was a small bowel obstruction resulting from scar tissue that developed following a previous bariatric surgery conducted years ago. The department also stated that her death was determined to be a natural occurrence.

On January 12, the renowned singer-songwriter and the daughter of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley was discovered unresponsive at her residence in Calabasas, California, by her ex-husband. She was promptly taken to the hospital due to a potential cardiac arrest. A report from the coroner revealed that the obstruction leading to Presley's demise was a strangulated small bowel caused by adhesions formed after her bariatric surgery years back. This complication is recognized as a known long-term consequence of this particular type of surgery.

After her death, a toxicology report revealed that Lisa Marie Presley's blood contained therapeutic levels of oxycodone, along with traces of buprenorphine (an opioid used for pain relief and opioid addiction treatment) and quetiapine (an antipsychotic medication). However, these drugs were determined to have no contribution to her cause of death. What’s more, there was no evidence of injury discovered during the investigation. Shortly before her passing, Presley attended the Golden Globes, where the biopic "Elvis," directed by Baz Luhrmann and centered around her late father, was being celebrated. Actor Austin Butler, who portrayed Elvis expressed gratitude to Lisa Marie and her mother, Priscilla, in his acceptance speech. The film received high praise from Lisa Marie herself. Another biopic, titled "Priscilla" and directed by Sofia Coppola, is scheduled for release in October. This film will explore the relationship between Lisa Marie's parents. At a memorial held at Graceland ten days after her death, Lisa Marie's daughter, actress Riley Keough, paid tribute to her mother. In a statement conveyed by her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, Riley expressed gratitude to her mother for instilling strength, empathy, courage, humor, manners, temper, wildness, and tenacity within her. She was the daughter of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, with her birth taking place nine months after her parents' wedding. Following their divorce, Lisa Marie primarily resided with her mother in Los Angeles but also spent considerable time at her father's residence, Graceland, in Memphis.

At the age of four, Lisa Marie's parents separated. After her father's passing in August 1977, at the age of nine, she became a joint heir to his estate alongside her 61-year-old grandfather, Vernon Presley, and Vernon's 87-year-old mother, Minnie Mae Presley (formerly Hood). Lisa Marie's lineage is traced back to the Harrison family of Virginia through her grandfather Vernon. Following the deaths of her grandfather in 1979 and her great-grandmother in 1980, she became the sole heir to Elvis' estate.
