Tom Brady, the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is known for his impressive football career, having won seven Super Bowls and being considered by many as the greatest of all time. Recently, he launched his own clothing company called BRADY, which may cause some confusion. However, the reason behind it is simple: Brady wanted to create a clothing line that he and his teammates could wear both to their training facilities and during their leisure time.
But BRADY isn't just for professional athletes like him; it's for everyone who wants comfortable and functional clothing for their everyday activities. In Brady's own words, the brand is "tailored really well" with "functional performance products" that can be worn while doing activities such as golfing, spending time with family, walking dogs, or going on a date. So, regardless of your lifestyle or profession, BRADY has something for everyone.
Tom Brady's 22nd season in the NFL is not the only thing that has been a long time coming; his clothing brand, BRADY, has also been in the works for four years. Brady partnered with Jens Grede, who has launched several successful companies such as Good American denim, Skims shapewear, and Safely cleaning products. They brought on board New York designer Dao-Yi Chow, who has worked for Sean John and Donna Karan and runs his own streetwear label, Public School. Together, they created a collection of breathable, performance-focused clothing that draws inspiration from professional sports-level design. The company claims to have spent over three years developing performance fabrics for its clothing.
The debut collection, which is now available on the company's website and will be available on Nordstrom.com and select locations in a week, includes 45 pieces split into three categories: LIVE, which focuses on lifestyle clothing; TRAIN, which features performance-focused pieces; and a general merch category for those who prefer Brady, the man, over BRADY, the brand. Prices for the collection range from $20 to $495. Like Brady's longevity in football, the BRADY clothing brand has been a long time in the making, but the wait seems to have been worth it.
BRADY is not content to simply rely on the reputation of its Gen-X founder. In fact, Brady himself has mentioned the company's nine inaugural ambassadors, almost all of whom are Zoomer collegiate athletes taking advantage of the NCAA’s 2021 Name, Image, and Likeness rule, to get compensation from outside of the company. Brady acknowledges that during his college days, he and his peers had to rely on just a few hundred-dollar scholarship checks. However, the NIL rule provides an excellent opportunity for these young athletes to be a part of something bigger. As Brady puts it, it’s cool and offers an opportunity for young people.
The ambassadors come from various sports, including football, tennis, basketball, hockey, and baseball. Football players Cade McNamara, who led Brady’s alma mater, the University of Michigan, over arch-rival Ohio State in 2021, and Shedeur Sanders, a quarterback at Jackson State who Brady refers to as a friend. In addition, the inclusion of Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Henry Davis suggests that both Brady and BRADY have their sights set on identifying future stars from a variety of sports. Clearly, BRADY is not content to simply cater to established athletes and is looking to forge relationships with up-and-coming stars in multiple sports.
While BRADY, the brand, was initially designed with Tom Brady and his fellow athletes in mind, it has a broader appeal. It's not just for the Bucs' roster, the MLB dugout, or elite college sports programs. It's also for those who aren’t professional runners, or those who are just two weeks into a New Year's resolution. As Tom Brady himself explains, his brand is literally for everyone.
In other words, BRADY's focus on breathable, movement-friendly pieces made from performance fabrics can benefit anyone who wants to stay comfortable and perform at their best, regardless of their fitness level. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out on your fitness journey, BRADY's functional performance products are tailored to help you perform your best and look good doing it.
