Lamborghini and Technics Unveil Limited-Edition Supercar-Inspired Turntable

Technics, a Japanese pro audio brand owned by the Panasonic Corporation, was founded in 1965. In 1972, the company made waves in the DJ industry with the introduction of its SL-1200 turntable—a revolutionary direct-drive model that has set the standard ever since. Therefore, when Automobili Lamborghini sought to release a Lamborghini-branded turntable, partnering with Technics was a natural choice.

Following months of development, the collaboration has now resulted in the official unveiling of the Technics for Automobili Lamborghini SL-1200M7B Direct Drive Turntable System.

Derived from Technics' existing SL-1200MK7/SL-1210MK7 turntable models, the Technics for Automobili Lamborghini SL-1200M7B stands as a premium, DJ-grade model. It boasts a cordless direct drive, and full-torque motor, and offers 33, 45, and 72RPM modes, alongside a reverse function, high-rigidity cabinet, and a two-layer platter construction. Echoing regular Technics SL1200 models, the 1200M7B includes a dust cover and a high-sensitivity tonearm.

Incorporating elements from Lamborghini's iconic design language and vehicles, the SL-1200M7B features distinct nods to the prestigious automaker. Available in orange, green, or yellow, the turntable's color options mirror Lamborghini's renowned car liveries. The automaker's signature Y-shaped pattern adorns the design, while a Lamborghini script logo, set on a carbon fiber inlay, graces the area just below the pitch control slider. Additionally, each turntable is accompanied by a custom slip mat adorned with the classic Lamborghini logo.

In addition to the SL-1200M7B turntable itself, the new collaboration between Lamborghini and Technics offers a range of supplementary items. This includes a special 12” vinyl record featuring recordings of engine and exhaust notes from six of Lamborghini's most iconic V12 engines: the 400GT 2+2, the Miura SV, the 25th Anniversary Countach, the Diablo 6.0 SE, the Murciélago LP 640, and the Revuelto. Titled "The Legends Keep Spinning," the record also includes an image of a Lamborghini Revuelto wheel that rotates while the record plays. Additionally, the SL-1200M7B comes with a selection of co-branded Lamborghini x Technics stickers.

While the collaboration between a Japanese pro audio brand and an ultra-prestigious Italian automaker might appear unexpected, the truth is that these two companies share significant similarities. Crucially, they both adhere to similar philosophies, consistently pushing the boundaries of technology within their respective fields. Technics and Lamborghini are equally renowned for their steadfast dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and performance.

The Technics for Automobili Lamborghini SL-1200M7B Direct Drive Turntable System is currently priced at $1,600 and is now available for order. Deliveries are set to commence later this summer.
